Meet the OWNER: Captain Al Sottosanti

Captain Al Sottosanti has been a staple in the Alaska tour and marine industries for more than 30 years. He’s worked as a licensed captain since 1990, captaining everything from large cruise ships to small fishing boats through Alaska’s waters.
A veteran in the industry, Captain Sottosanti gained an intimate knowledge of Prince William Sound as captain of the vessel Kayak Chief. He also sailed large cruise ships on 10-day excursions between Juneau and Sitka, with stops in Glacier Bay National Park.
On top of his experience in Prince William Sound, Captain Sottosanti was instrumental to the success of some of Alaska’s most prestigious fishing and adventure lodges, where he oversaw the hiring of Silver Service-trained chefs, wait staff and guides, experience that he brought aboard the Northern Explorer for the enjoyment of our guests.

Known for his personable demeanor, extensive knowledge and commitment to safety, Captain Sottosanti is dedicated to providing his guests with a safe, comfortable, unforgettable Prince William Sound tour.
